BOWLS NSW LTD TO TAKE PART IN STEPTEMBER

by Billy Johnson

This year Bowls NSW Ltd staff will be tying up their laces to take part in STEPtember.

STEPtember is a fun and inclusive virtual event that challenges participants to walk, swim, ride, wheel or spin their way to 10,000 steps per day during the month of September – all while helping to improve the lives of children and adults who live with cerebral palsy.

Every 20 hours, an Australian child is diagnosed with cerebral palsy.

Cerebral palsy is the most common physical disability in childhood. It’s caused by damage to the developing brain either during pregnancy or shortly after birth – directly affecting a person’s movement and posture for life.

All funds raised from STEPtember go towards a variety of programs, ranging from crucial research into early detection of cerebral palsy, to the development of innovative mobility and communication technologies that promote inclusion of people with a disability.

For those interested in taking on the challenge, there is still time to enter. Simply head to the STEPtember website and register.

Bowls NSW Ltd have registered three teams to take part:

  • Christopher_Walkings – Tricia B, Michelle T, Billy J and Andrew L
  • Shake, Rattle & Stroll – Courtney A, Shontelle M, Jess B and Selam W
  • The F Team – Greg H, Anne J, Jen H and David E

The Bowls NSW Ltd teams are beyond excited to join the thousands of Australians participating in STEPtember, and move together for cerebral palsy!
